From September 1 to December 12, 2025, the Mont Blanc Tunnel (Chamonix – Courmayeur) will be completely closed due to modernization works. This is one of the most important routes connecting France and Italy, which means that the closure will particularly affect freight transport and logistics companies.

What are the alternatives for carriers?

The best solution during this period will be the Fréjus Tunnel (Modane – Bardonecchia). This route will take over most of the traffic from the Mont Blanc Tunnel and become the main Alpine connection for trucks and vans.
